Every so often, we offer some sort of a discounted price on what it costs to join the range.  This Christmas season, the initiation fee has been reduced from $100 to $50.  Join during this period and you will save $50.   We have also rolled back the membership fees to make this the best time to become a member of the range.  This offer won't last so take advantage of it now.  Gift certificates are ready here for each membership.  Call the range at 744-2600 and we can get one to you in the mail, saving you a trip and making your holiday shopping a little easier.

Membership:
        The F.O.P. Range Inc. is a range open to the public for a daily fee or through purchase of membership to be paid annually.  The requirements for range use or membership include having a valid driver's license, having a pistol permit or be able to get a pistol permit (no crimes of violence in your criminal history) and be of age to purchase pistol ammo (at least 21 years old).  Everyone joining the range has filled out a membership agreement, agreeing to abide by safety rules while on the range and has gone through a range safety briefing.  
        The range currently has over 800 active dues paid members and we are growing every week.  There will be a day when we must say "no more" and start a waiting list for new memberships to control crowding on the range.  If you are interested in having a great place to enjoy your firearms, get in while you can.  Join the range.

Membership Plans:
          Memberships are renewable on the anniversary of the date you joined and are not prorated or tied to any specific calander year.  We send out renewal reminders on the first of each month to all the members who are due to renew during that month.  Send a check, call in a card number or come out to renew your membership.  We have discontinued the monthly membership plan due to problems collecting dues on a reliable basis from our monthly members.  We currently have more than $10,000 in uncollected dues from our now "terminated" monthly paying members.  No new monthly memberships will be sold.  If you have a monthly membership, please make sure you update your payment information if you get a new card, change banks or close your bank account.  We will honor all existing monthly membership plans so long as they are kept current.  Call the range at 744-2600 with any questions.

       Rates Effective Jan. 2, 2007:   

        Full Family Membership:  This plan costs $300 a year and has a first year initiation fee of $100 on top of the first year's dues to get you in.  With this plan, the member may use the range whenever we are open and never pay a range use fee.  He may bring his immediate family with him (spouse and kids up to 20) for free.  You may bring guests other than your spouse and kids for a small $10 per day guest fee.  And yes, your spouse may use the range without your help.  Both of you can come to the range any time you want and bring guests.

        Limited Family Membership:  This plan costs $100 a year and has a first year initiation fee of $100 on top of the first year's dues to get you in.  With this plan, the member may use the range Monday through Thursday and never pay a range use fee.  You may bring your immediate family with you (spouse and kids up to the age of 20) for free.  You may bring guests other than your spouse and kids for a small $10 per day guest fee.  And yes, your spouse may use the range without your help.  Both of you can come to the range any time you want and bring guests.

       Single Membership: This plan costs $200 a year and has a first year initiation fee of $100 on top of the first year's dues to get it started.  With this plan, the member has use of the entire facility 7 days a week.  Any guests he brings pay the normal guest fee of $10 per guest.

        Family Add-On Membership:    Your children over the age of 20 can join with a family member add-on membership for half of what the parent's membership runs.  For example, Dad is a Full Member with dues that cost $300 per year and son or daughter turns 21 and wants to shoot on their own. They can now purchase the same Full Membership for $150 per year.  If Dad has a Limited Membership with $100 per year dues, then the 21 year old can join as a limited member for $50 per year.  They will then be able to come to the range alone, bring guests, and enjoy the facility.  The initiation fee will be waived for family member add-on memberships.  The rate will remain the same as long as the original member, Dad, remains current on his range dues.  If he lets his membership lapse, the renewal rate for the family member add-on will be the regular rate for new members.

            Special rate for full time law enforcement.  $250 per year dues for a Full Family Law Enforcement membership with a $100 initiation fee, or  $150 per year dues with a $100 initiation fee for a Single Law Enforcement membership.  Guests are $10 per guest per day.

         Your paid membership will allow you full use of everything we have to offer at the range.  Non-members are restricted to use of the Public Range.  Members may use all the ranges on our facility.   Members can borrow a chronograph to see what your ammo is doing.   Members can use of our shot timers to see how fast you are shooting so you can chart your performance.  We sell targets, ammunition, and other shooting and reloading supplies.  The range is about the only place in Birmingham where you can find bulk bullets from Delta Precision, Berry's, Magnus, Ranier, and others.  Dillon progressive reloading presses are also in stock.  Soft drinks, snacks, and a clean restroom are available, and we have emergency medical services minutes away .

         Annual Membership dues are billed on the anniversary of the date you joined.  Monthly Membership dues are automatically submitted to the bank on the first business day of each month.  If you need more info or directions, call the range at 205-744-2600.

Hours of Operation:
        The range is open 7 days a week; from 9:00 am till dark Monday through Saturday, 12:00 noon till 5:00 pm Sunday.  The range is available free of charge to local, state, and federal agencies who do not have their own range and have requested the use of our facility.
